About the colloquium

Do the new instruments of finance create value — or only the appearance of it?

Financial systems are being reshaped at once by climate imperatives, rapid digitalisation and an abundance of data. Firms and financial institutions are integrating ESG factors, adopting AI-driven analytics and leveraging fintech to improve capital allocation, sharpen risk management and widen financial inclusion.

The colloquium invites critical inquiry into whether these innovations genuinely create value, or merely present an illusion of efficiency, transparency and long-term sustainability.

Innovation or Illusion?

At the heart of the colloquium is a critical inquiry into whether emerging financial innovations truly create value or merely present an illusion — questioning their real impact on efficiency, transparency and long-term sustainability. The conference includes the Doctoral Colloquium, keynote sessions, Meet the Editors, a workshop on quantitative analysis and paper presentations across thematic tracks, addressing contemporary areas of research in finance and accounting. The Doctoral Colloquium and Conference invite researchers, faculty members and practitioners to engage with cutting-edge research, interdisciplinary perspectives and theoretical and empirical insights that can guide the responsible evolution of financial markets and inform policy, innovation and sustainable economic growth.
